April 2010 Jazzz Buzzz:
Miguel Zenón (performed) at Loeb Playhouse-Purdue University (on Friday 09). Zenón (presented) the Puerto Rican inspired piece, “Esta Plena.” He (was) backed by a trio (piano, drums and bass) and three pleneros, whose voices and hand claps (added) to the music and (filled) the concert hall with intoxicating rhythms. “Esta Plena” the record was nominated for Best Improvised Solo and Best Latin Jazz albums at the 2010 Grammys.
