Kreyol jazz: JOWEE OMICI
Haitian saxophonist Jowee Omicil delivers his brand of Kreyol Jazz at the Little Haiti Cultural Center this Friday evening. NPR has it own take on the Omicil factor:
“…as Wyclef Jean is one of the best known artists of Haitian ancestry in the US, Jowee Omicil would likely qualify as the most eclectic. His mastery of just about every wind instrument, combined with his extraordinary ability to mix sounds has turned his new album, “Roots and Grooves” into a musical world journey. It roams through Afro jazz, Haitian Kompa music, soul and gospel.” - NPR
